Rust vs Go for high-throughput network proxy

Building a layer-7 proxy that needs to handle 50k+ concurrent connections with TLS termination and header rewriting. Rust gives zero-cost abstractions but longer compile times and steeper onboarding. Go is simpler but GC pauses concern me at this scale. What's been your experience at these connection counts?
